Meet the Team!

Fr. Michael McMahon is a priest of the Diocese of Joliet ordained in 2018. He currently serves a parochial vicar at St. Mary Immaculate in Plainfield. Born in Joliet, Father grew up in the South-West Suburbs of Chicago with deep Irish Catholic roots. He first felt a call to the priesthood at the age of 7 thanks to the influence of a family member who was a Priest of the Society of Jesus, and the strong faith of his teachers and grandmother. Father is passionate about the Bible, the history of the Church, and the celebration of the Liturgy. Some of his interests include studying scripture, reading literature, architecture, following major league baseball, and traveling.

Fr. Michael graduated from U of I in Champaign-Urbana with a General Engineering Degree.  It was while he was in college that he grew in his faith through a program called FOCUS.  Before entering seminary and ordained a priest, Fr. Michael was a FOCUS missionary for 6 years serving at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, University of Missouri – Kansas City, and University of Colorado in Boulder.   Fr. Michael is currently the Parochial Vicar at Visitation Catholic Church in Elmhurst, IL and outside of his priestly duties is active in both Youth and Young Adult Ministry at his parish.

Luke and Anna were recently engaged and currently planning their wedding coming up in June! If you are reading this bio say a prayer for them! Luke and Anna have been a part of high school and young adult apostolates for the past several years. They especially have a heart for prayer ministry and building a home for the weary of heart to encounter the Lord. They also really love coffee and all things travel!

Corn fed and Iowa bred, Sarah made the state switch-up just a short 3 months ago and made her home in the western burbs of Chicago, teaching Spanish and Religion at a tiny private Catholic school. When she isn’t trying to brush up on Spanish skills or planning lessons, she loves doing all things involving people and Jesus. Some of her favorites are ultimate frisbee, ping-pong, hammocking, and chai tea lattes. She was also a NET Missionary, and that experience catapulted her into pursuing sainthood and living a life lead by the Holy Spirit on the daily. With all that said, she truly hopes to spread Christ to others.

Former Protestant turned Catholic and enjoying life to its fullest, Edgar lives in Rolling Meadows but grew up in Berwyn near the city. He has a heart for young adults and seeing people be transformed through God’s Love. You can find him enjoying random adventures, traveling, watching Dr. Who, drinking anything with coffee, praying for people,  reading until he can’t see, and forming intentional friendships. Edgar works delivering instruments for surgery in hospitals, and is a parishioner at St. Michael in Wheaton.  

Hailing from Maryland, she doesn’t know a whole lot about crab and lobster, but she definitely does know a thing or two about coffee. Appreciator of road trips, hammocks, and all things doused in Valentina. Bridget is a former NET missionary with a heart for ministry and a strong devotion to St. Gianna Molla!

Kelly is from Plainfield and is a member of St. Mary Immaculate parish. She is a graduate of Lewis University and currently works as a Radiation Therapist at a cancer center in Joliet. In her free time she enjoys staying active and spending time with family and friends. She also has a Great Dane puppy named Stella, who she is slightly obsessed with.

Katie came back to her hometown of Naperville after completing her bachelor’s degree in hospitality administration from Northern Illinois University. Her love of the details has led her to a job as in wedding and event planning. In her free time Katie enjoys spending time with family, & her dog, Jewel, and going dancing with friends.

James and Rebecca Panek were married in July 2017.  They were blessed that all 8 of their grandparents attended their wedding. They spend their time trying new crockpot recipes and playing with their daughter.

Edgar considers himself a hard headed but head strong individual that aspires to evolve and adapt to our Church’s needs. He currently focuses his time at St. Pius as a youth leader, coordinator and chaperone. He is also involved in the Latino Young Adult Network in the DOJ. Edgar graduated from DeVry University by the age of 20 and is continuing his education at DePaul University for computer science to use his knowledge and expertise to help the church move forward capturing today’s technology.

To sum Audrey up, she loves three things: Catholicism, her husband and Disney. While Audrey was raised Catholic, her faith was awakened again while in college. She joined Catholic Cardinals at North Central College her freshman year and later became president. But after she graduated with her degree in marketing, she realized that there is a need for young adults to connect with each other in the Church, which is why she is so excited to be part of the Tenth Hour Initiative team. She is also a part of the confirmation retreat team at Resurrection Catholic Church in Wayne (her home parish). She recently got married to the love of her life and is an avid Disney fan. Fun fact: her husband proposed to her in front of the Disneyland castle in Anaheim, California!

Omar and Barbara have just begun their lives as a newly married couple in August. They are also expecting a little one (and newest member of the team) coming at the end of April. This couple loves music, being active, and all things spicy. Also, if you happen to have a toothache, they may know a dentist. With the help and support from their friends, they hope to spread the love of Jesus to everyone they meet.
